Warrigal greens are tolerant of wind, exposure and a variety of soil types, as well as growing quickly to 2 m across and around 30 cm high. Plants are not particularly frost tolerant so choose a protected area of your garden or grow them in a hanging basket.

Once established they do tend to take over and will supply way more than you can eat.
In my location I found that the hot summer sun is a bit much for them so a little shade is good at least for part of the day. They do enjoy rain and spread quickly.
Leaves contain high levels of vitamin K, as well as vitamins C and B6, and manganese. However due to their high levels of oxalic acid, the leaves need pre-treatment before eating. Blanch leaves in hot (not boiling) water for a minute before draining and plunging them into cold water.
If you can’t eat all the warrigals you grow then feed them to your chooks!
